BDT v5.9.5 reading flash issue

wes58

I am using BDT v5.9.5 and TLSR8258. A couple of weeks ago I wrote about this issue with the previous version of BDT - https://forum.telink-semi.cn/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=98604&extra=page%3D2 Now with the latest version of BDT the problem is worse. 1. When I try to read flash memory to file via Cmdline Input in BDT: `B85 rf 76000 -s 4k -o "d:\\TelinkIoTStudio\\BDT\\mac_76000.bin"` Flash read is not saved to file and I get the following result in BDT: ``` [08:39:36]: TC32 EVK: Swire ok 1024 byte(s) have finished 2048 byte(s) have finished 3072 byte(s) have finished 4096 byte(s) have finished Save data to bin file error Error<0x1209>: Save data to file error ``` 2. Reading/writing flash memory via "Memory Access" or "Cmdline Input" causing two issues:    When I write to flash memory the data is written to flash but I get this in BDT: ``` [08:52:26]: TC32 EVK: Swire ok Flash status: unlocked 0007f100: ff Write 1 byte(s) at flash address 0x07f100 Error<0x120a>: Read flash directly error ``` Reading the flash doesn't display this error message: ``` [08:52:21]: 1 byte(s) have finished 0007f100: ff [08:52:21]: Total time: 26 ms ``` The second issue is, that the program crashes when reading or writing to Flash of TLSR8258. I modified BDT/config/system.ini's `read\_write\_direct = True` as was suggested in my previous post. This works for TL7218 but not for TLSR8258. In the previous version I only checked with TL7218 and it worked but TLSR8258 didn't work as well - the program crashes. <i class="pstatus"> 本帖最后由 wes58 于 2026-10-8 08:01 编辑 </i><br /> <br />

I'm very sorry for causing any confusion. In the V5.9.5 version, when modifying the file save path, an error occurred and one character was wrongly handled, resulting in the current command format that can be used normally being changed to B85 rf 76000 -s 4k -o " d:\\TelinkIoTStudio\\BDT\\mac_76000.bin", that is, there is an extra space before the "path". Only in this format can it be used normally. We will handle the next version, and the normal format does not require this space. Regarding the second question, the read_write_direct function is not compatible with all chips. Currently, TLSR8258 is not compatible. It is recommended to configure read_write_direct=false for use.

Regarding the second issue, changing `read_write_direct=false` to false doesn't make a difference as far as program crashing after the flash read or write on TLSR8258. So it doesn't make a difference whether it is true of false. What is interesting that it always crashes at the same point - see below my test - program running and I press "Step" **pc : 0x014db2  tmov        r1,        sp pc : 0x000010  tloadrb        r2,        [r1,        #2] pc : 0x000220  tpush        {lr}** - I read 1 byte from memory while in step mode **[14:43:11]: TC32 EVK: Swire ok 1 byte(s) have finished 0007f000: a0 [14:43:11]: Total time: 740 ms** - Program not running (led not flashing) so I press "Step" to see where crash occurs. **pc : 0x002126  9e19        tjl        dd5c pc : 0x002122  tmovs        r0,        #128        ;        0x80 pc : 0x002124  tshftls        r0,        r0,        #5 pc : 0x002126  9e19        tjl        dd5c pc : 0x002122  tmovs        r0,        #128        ;        0x80 pc : 0x002124  tshftls        r0,        r0,        #5 pc : 0x002126  9e19        tjl        dd5c** - I reset the program **[14:43:51]: TC32 EVK: Swire ok Reset MCU ok [14:43:51]: Total time: 177 ms** - Read 1 byte of flash while it is running **[14:43:55]: TC32 EVK: Swire ok 1 byte(s) have finished 0007f000: a0 [14:43:56]: Total time: 742 ms** - I step again and it is in the same spot as before **pc : 0x002122  tmovs        r0,        #128        ;        0x80 pc : 0x002124  tshftls        r0,        r0,        #5 pc : 0x002126  9e19        tjl        dd5c        af_clsuteridmatched pc : 0x002122  tmovs        r0,        #128        ;        0x80 pc : 0x002124  tshftls        r0,        r0,        #5 pc : 0x002126  9e19        tjl        dd5c        af_clsuteridmatched** Does it mean that it is not possible to read flash - even 1 byte - without a program crashing on TLSR8258?

TL_MINGSEN

Yes, regardless of the number of bytes of flash length you read, the dut_b85_flash_v0005.bin (SRAM bin) located in the BDT/config/bin directory will be pre-run, thus causing the destruction of the current flash program you are running. It is suggested that the variables that need to be refreshed and checked in real time be placed in the SRAM memory space. This way, the aforementioned problem will not occur. <div class="quote"><blockquote><font size="2"><a href="https://forum.telink-semi.cn/forum.php?mod=redirect&goto=findpost&pid=103043&ptid=98939" target="_blank"><font color="#999999">wes58 发表于 2026-10-8 12:22</font></a></font><br /> Thanks for quick response.
